These pictures were all taken on Thursday of our remodel. While Dad was here he did the following: Tore out the dropped ceiling and it's surround of 2x8's. He said that in an earthquake, forget a doorway, our dropped ceiling was built to last! He closed up the doorway from the kitchen to the living room, put in 7 new can lights and rewired the kitchen for above and below cabinet lighting, new counter tops, new sink and faucet, new microwave which entailed creating a new vent and moving and rebuilding the cabinet above. He put in 9 new lights in the master bedroom and closet while removing and patching the existing light, 6 can lights in the living room, and a new ceiling fan in the family room. We had at least 8 trips to Lowe's or Home Depot despite trying to buy everything we'd need before he came. He went through 300 feet of electrical wire and 3 huge buckets of mud.
I can't forget Mom or Todd during this. Todd contributed his brute strength and lighting expertise and still managed to have a little fun with Nathan and helped with runs to the store and driving Bri and Nate around. Mom was the house cleaner extraordinaire and managed to have the main floor in tip top shape before she left early Monday morning.
Now all that's left for us to do is prime and paint the walls, ceiling, and refrigerator. Dad did such a great job on the ceiling that we've decided that can wait until winter when we're stuck indoors more. We know where all of the holes were and we can't even find them.
We have been served all week and words can't express how much we appreciate what they did for us. By the way - WE LOVE OUR NEW KITCHEN!!!! Thanks Mom and Dad!!!
It's nice to have family that is good at remodeling. It comes in handy.

ReplyDeleteI just had to tell you I love the cam lights. And now that you have no drop celing you can decorate the top of your cupboards with some fun tirnkits. Wow! all that counter space, how fun. Grandpa Steve did a great job. Mom B
