Olivia turns 4 and I nearly ruin her birthday

We celebrated Olivia's 4th birthday and I made her a Barbie cake - the one where you stick the doll in the "skirt" cake and decorate with frosting. I thought it turned out great but when she saw that I used her Cinderella Barbie, which was now covered in frosting she burst into tears and walked to her room with a monologue of her sorrows. "Now I don't have a Cinderella Barbie. We are going to eat my Barbie. I don't want a princess cake with my Cinderella Barbie..." you get the idea. Bryan finally calmed her down and then all during dinner she asked me why I had used her Barbie. We finally said, "no more questions Olivia." All was better once we took her out of the cake and Olivia had a bath with her to clean her off. She has asked me not to make any more cakes with her Barbies. I am happy to oblige.

Olivia, I love your birthday pictures. Dora is bigger than you are. I'm happy to hear that Cinderella survived her frosting decor. It looks and sounds like a great birthday. Thank you for sharing it with us. Grandma Sheryn

Our home teacher was giving our family a lesson on how the Book of Mormon could help us return to our Heavenly Father. He then asked Olivia what we have to do to live with Heavenly Father again. Her answer? "Die!"
This was after she'd already told him she's never heard of the Book of Mormon. The missionaries stopped by about 20 minutes later (unexpectedly) to give us a message and pray with us. They must have heard about the Book of Mormon comment....

When I picked Olivia up at the end of her first day of kindergarten her body was literally dancing for joy. She said more than once, "Mom, my school is so fun you just wish you were me!!!"

Olivia to me on Mother's Day:
"Mom, since today is Mother's Day I will listen to everything you say to make your day special!"
She made me several cards, but my favorite was when she sang to me with the primary. She waved and smiled nearly the whole time. From all the comments I got about it afterwards I think she made it special for several people that day. It's also been confirmed that we definitely have an extrovert!

Olivia: "When I grow up I want to be a Mermaid Princess and I'm going to change my name to Ariel."
Nathan: "If you're going to be Ariel you'll have to color your hair red."
Olivia: "Oh yeah!"
Mom: "You can't color your beautiful brown hair red! Maybe we could get you a red wig."
Olivia: "Would a wig stay on in the water?"
Mom: "No that would definitely be a problem."
Olivia: "I'll just use blue tape, that will keep my wig on."

After going down the alpine slide at Olympic Park in Utah, Olivia said,
"That made my heart go beat, beat, beat! Can I go again?"

Olivia and I were eating lunch yesterday when she left me with these words of wisdom:
Love in your family means that you stick together forever and never come apart.

While I was doing Olivia's hair and she was watching in the mirror, she said several times:
"I love how I am!" "I LOVE how I am!!"
I think we would all be better off if we told ourselves that more often.

Olivia really is growing up. She's had a few words that she's said in her own cute way that she's now corrected:
The "Caplice" are now the Police
Girls are no longer "Grills" (upsetting whenever we BBQ'd)

"Mom, when Brianna has a baby then will I have another sister?"
"No Olivia, When Brianna has a baby girl, she'll be your niece and you'll be Aunt Olivia."
"I DON'T WANT to be an Aunt!"
"Well then what would you like your nieces to call you?"
"Princess Olivia"

Olivia and I have great conversations in the car. Today she observed, " Mom, if I had 100 eyes all over my body I would see really super great!"

Olivia came up to me today and said, "Mom, Dad says I have a bat in my cave....what does that mean?" I started laughing and told her that it meant she had a boogie in her nose. I got a tissue and helped her get it out. She then ran to Bryan with her nose about an inch from his face and said, "Look Dad, there's no more bats in my cave.....but you might need a flashlight so you can see better!"

I came home recently and immediately heard:
Olivia: "Mom, mom....
Bryan: "Olivia don't you ask Mom! I already gave you the answer."
Olivia: "Mom, let's go talk in the other room."

One of our favorite topics at dinner are Olivia's Barbie's. Bryan has brought it up a lot lately because the Easter Bunny will soon be adding to her collection and helping her get closer to her goal of 100 Barbies.
Some of her Barbies have interesting names. Our favorite is Delecta. During lunch, as Olivia was eating Doritos, Bryan asked her what she'd name her next Barbie.
Oliva: "Hmmm...I think Orange Chippy".
(Lots of laughter from the family)
Bryan: "That's a funny name for a Barbie."
Olivia: "Well, maybe Cheetoey"
